When I was in high school I started noticing shortness of breath. My mom took me to various doctors, but they didn’t find anything. It wasn’t anything serious so I didn’t pay much attention to it. It ended after some time and I just kept going with my day-to-day life.
When I was in my second year of university I noticed the same shortness of breath once again.
I had totally forgotten about my school days so I decided to check my health. I went to every doctor possible, did many different health tests, and once again physically I was perfectly fine. My shortness of breath was related to my mental health. This is how my life with anxiety disorder and panic attacks began.
Shortly after my initial anxiety symptoms I experienced my first panic attack. That experience was terrifying and deserves a post of its own. My life with anxiety and various symptoms continued for over ten years. I had some peaceful periods and I had some really tough ones. During the lockdown in 2020 I had my worst period ever and decided that enough is enough. I promised myself to do everything that was in my power to reduce my anxiety. And I did it!
Here I am today – with stronger resilience, reduced anxiety, and without panic attacks. It took three years to become my new self. In my next entires I will share the symptoms I had, how I reduced my anxiety, what my panic attacks were like, and more.
If you’re struggling right now, remember – you’re not alone.
