Always remember – life is about progress, not perfection. Start where you are and slowly build your way up. Self-compassion is the best medicine after all!
- Consistent sleep schedule. Sleep has a huge impact on our wellbeing and mood. Try going to bed and waking up at the same time every day (including weekends). Sleep for 7 to 9 hours. Try to improve your sleep quality if you need to. Going to bed and waking up at the same time daily supports nervous system regulation and emotional resilience.
- Limit caffeine. Caffeine can boost cortisol levels in your body and provoke anxiety. Try to limit caffeine intake during the day, avoid it after lunch, or switch to herbal teas altogether.
- Move your body. It’s not necessary to join a gym to move your body. Do a simple stretching routine in the morning, go for a walk, or dance. Even a short walk outside can lower cortisol levels in your body and boost endorphins.
- Deep breathing. Try simple breathing techniques such as deep breathing when exhale is twice as long as inhale or box breathing. Slow, deep belly breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system and calms the body.
- Become familiar with your anxiety patterns. It’s important to understand what triggers your anxiety. It will let you take more control of your life and make necessary changes, You can find my FREE Anxiety Tracker here.
