Have you ever thought that creating new habits is hard? Been there, done that. I used to think that it takes a lot of effort and hard work to create a new habit but now I believe I just didn’t know the right way to do that. We all have some things we would like to add into our day (exercise, start journaling, spend more time in nature, read more books, etc.) New Year is the best time to put some more good stuff into your day and I want to share what works for me when I want to create a new habit that actually sticks.
First of all, I like to start small. I usually choose one or to things that I want to add into my day. I recently added a short yoga session and mediation into my night time routine. Starting small allows me not to feel overwhelmed and I can actually find time to squeeze something into my busy schedule.
Next thing I love doing is pairing new habits with the old ones. We all have things we do every day. When I paired my daily gratitude with my morning coffee it became super easy to do every single morning. I also paired my meditation with my bed time and now I meditate 10 minutes before sleep.
The last thing I do I always have a certain time for my new habits. It is very easy to lose everything if you are not strict with your time. This point comes hand in hand with the previous one. Always pair your new habits with the ones you do at the same time every day.
What new habits do you want to incorporate into your day? Write them down in the comments!
